So, last weekend i got my Creative Team together and we got working on taking some beautiful imagery for my new up and coming website! I'm wonderfully lucky to know people who are so talented in so many different fields that can help me with my work. This weekend included Charlotte Greig as photographer, Emily Scott and the beautiful model and Abby Frew sharing her expertise on hair and make up. After days and days of rain and general gloom, the day we had scheduled turned out to be amazingly gorgeous! The sun was shining and not a drop of rain in site! We'd had this day planned for a couple of week and had no idea what the weather was going to turn out like, so we ended up being very lucky.

It was a bit nerve racking for me as i hadn't shown anyone the newest collection yet, and the feedback i got off my team was lovely. It's nice to hear good things about the work i've been slaving over recently, as i've been focusing on it so much i just can't see how it actually looks anymore!

Although it was lovely and sunny, the wind was certainly making an appearance. My poor model Emily was freezing, but she remained incredibly professional and didn't whinge once. I did feel very very sorry for her! I took part in the photography myself as well as Charlotte, as i want to be involved with as much as i can when it comes to my work. I can be quite particular and i know what i want! However, the photography was mainly done by the talented Charlotte Greig, and i couldn't be happier with the results. It's been so exciting looking through and sorting out the photographs for the new collection and i can't wait for you all to see it!!

To be one of the first to see my brand new spring collection, make sure you come to the SEWN Exhibition presented by King Crumpet Events where i myself am exhibiting brand new work!
However, if you can't wait till then for Rosebud Casson, don't forget my very own website is launched on MARCH 1st! Where my Autumn Collection will be available to browse and purchase :)

SEWN!

So!! I am incredibly proud and excited to announce that i am taking part in an exhibition called 'SEWN', organised by the incredibly talented King Crumpet Events with some lovely ladies that all use stitch in their work. It's going to be a brilliant night celebrating local female talent in the north east, and you really cannot go wrong with that!! I myself will be releasing my very own Spring (and second ever!!) collection. Exciting and nerve racking stuff!!

Long over due!

So, looking at the date of my last post, it seems I have been severely neglecting my poor blog! However, with some new and exciting things coming up, i'm sure i will have lots of interesting things to talk about. Over the Christmas break i had a lovely relax, spending time with friends and family and to be honest, procrastinating just a little bit! But now, its a new year (can you believe its 2014!?) and with that comes new work :) Over the next couple of weeks i shall be providing sneak peeks of my upcoming work and new collection. I also have lots of exciting events coming up soon, but for now i can reveal only one.......

My new website and online store!!

It's massively exciting for me to be able to share this news with you all! I've got a good friend, Kristie Hope, working alongside me to create the perfect website, for me, and of course more importantly you guys!! I'm incredibly lucky to know someone as lovely and amazingly talented as this woman, and believe me, your eyes are in for a treat on the first of March!!

Launching this site is a big big deal for me and my dreams!

No rest for the wicked!

So, during the past few weeks, i've been the busiest i've ever been! While getting a full time position at the company i worked part time at during university, i also signed my name to take part in a craft fair in Hart Village ran by King Crumpet. This meant working from 9 till 6 and then rushing home and spending the rest of my free time manicly creating new designs and making new pretty things to get my business started. However, i can't complain because I love what I do! (i'm just really looking forward to doing nothing for a night or two.....)

So! It's been a really hectic few weeks getting everything together and it really has finally all paid off. I took part in my first craft fair and it was much more successful than i thought it would be! It was really lovely to meet such lovely and talented people, and hear comments about my work.

Running up to the fair i was panicking about the amount of work i had been able to produce in the short time i had, but when it came to setting up my table i didn't even have enough space for everything i had brought! That gave me a huge boost of confidence because i'd been so worried about having a very empty, sad looking stall.

A lot of the customers had some lovely things to say about my work which is always really heart warming when you have worked hard at something you love. Unsurprisingly my glass wing necklaces where the most popular and i've ended up with only one left!

The other stall holders were incredibly talented and inspirational, and any money i made on my own stall i ended up going round and spending it on the other peoples work ! Two stall holders were Rachael Armstrong from PoppyCock Illustrations and Hannah Butler from King Crumpet . Heres some pics of them looking beautiful at their stalls - really sorry about the quality of the pics!

Their work is so quirky and cute! Keep an eye open for the talented duo in upcoming christmas events around hartlepool.

Now, not only was it my first ever craft fair but also my graduation!! I celebrated getting my Bachelor of Arts in Textiles and Surface Design in the Middlesbrough Town Hall. It was a great day, getting to see everyone from my course that i hadn't seen for months since our final show. It was really nice to end three of the most important years of my life with a great ceremony, and walking across that stage in front of all those people (although i was completely pooing myself!) I felt a lot better when my name was called out and i heard the full of the Applied Arts class and my family shouting WOOOOO!!! That was a good feeling :D

I feel so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. The constant support and love I have received from my nearest and dearest, particularly Thomas Arnell, Emily Scott and Amy-Rose Tucker is really overwhelming. And believe me, I know i'm not the easiest person to live with!

The new member of the family...

So, it's been really busy behind the scenes of Rosebud Casson, but i am pleased to finally share with you the new member of the 'Family' ! About a week ago, my boyfriend and I went for some lunch and stumbled across a garage on Tower Street that sold old and vintage 'nik naks', including furniture, pottery, log burners etc! Immediately i spotted a brown box resembling a Singer Sewing machine, something i have wanted to get my hands on for years. (We do have a vintage Singer, but it's so old we are unable to use it!) Anyhoo, we asked the bloke about it and he said he'd bought it a while ago thinking he would get rid of it for £200 no problem, but it turns out people in Hartlepool 'had no taste' and no body wanted it! So, as he was wanting to get rid of it, he gave us the 1911 Singer Sewing Machine in full working order, original Manual AND all the extra bits and bobs for THIRTY POUNDS! Thirty quidlets!! My boyfriend generously bought me is as an early Christmas present... Here's some photos to show it off! Some of the 'extras' are totally alien to me and i have no idea what to do with them! So if there are any Singer Experts out there please get in touch as i would LOVE to learn more about my new machine :)

A Very Productive Day!

So! The day finally came when enough of my products were finished and my friends were all off work at the same time. So I gathered up my 'Creative Team' and we got to work! Not all my products are done and dusted but I felt like I had enough to get me going for at least one shoot. As i get more finished I am planning on doing the photos as i go along, but I am so pleased with the outcome of our work today :)

So! I got my friends Emily and Amy to model and co-direct the photo shoot with me, and I took the photographs on a camera that was generously lent to me by my friend Abby. The location we used was Emily's cottage and gardens up in Greatham just on the outskirts of our town, Hartlepool. We had such a good laugh and it was a good opportunity for us all to catch up as we are always working these days! It was great having two really creative people to help me along through the shoot with their ideas and suggestions.

Luckily, the weather really held up for us all day, and only started raining after we took the very last photograph! We all piled our clothes together and carefully chose the outfits to go with all the pieces of jewelry. I'm so pleased with how it all turned out, and relieved i finally have some material to finally get my website and Facebook page going. It's been so boring for all of my followers recently, just looking at the same photographs over and over again! Now i have some media to use i can finally get my website planned with the help of a good friend Kristie, and will hopefully get that up and running soon.

I'm really looking forward to releasing the photographs of the full shoot, but until it gets closer to the release of the collection (at the King Crumpet Hart Village fair, Nov 30th/Dec 1st) I am going to drip feed them onto my Facebook Page.

I loved the Autumn feel of the location of the shoot, and it was exactly how i wanted it to be. I even got up the courage and modeled a small piece myself! Just for grins and chuckles.. :)

Final photographs will be released gradually over my Facebook Page, so make sure you give it a LIKE! and keep up with all the news and updates, including competitions coming soon :)

Upcoming Event!!

Well, I haven't posted in this space for a while, but i have good reasons! Recently acquired more hours at work (need more money to pay for fabrics and lovely things!) so I have been totally swamped. Of course, keeping up with my business after hours and still holding on to the dream that Rosebud Casson can one day be my full time job :)

Anyhoo! In the spirit of getting my name about and launching my work, I am taking part in a lovely craft fair in Hart Village, Hartlepool! It's going to be a lovely event, and even includes a baking competition judged by the Village Vicar! Come along to see my first OFFICIAL collection and get some stocking fillers for your loved ones :) It will be a great event to see some amazing local talent.
