Relaxing...

Well, its a relief to have everything handed in, now its just waiting for the marks....seriously nervous! But at the end of the day, it is out of my hands now and i know i did the best i could. That is enough for me! Anyhoo, i've had a lovely weekend chilling out, went to a charity gig on friday called Music Vs Cancer, had work on saturday through the day and then a nice night in with a bottle of wine and the american office with Tom. Sunday was a brilliant end to the weekend with a day off, visit to toms parents and then cooked our dinner and lazed in front of the t.v a bit! All in all its been a great relax....that cant last forever!! Tomorrow is the start of my new project. Time to research research research !! and also finish the dreaded dissertation...well it will all be worth it! Thinking about my dissertation though i was looking into an artist called Rob Ryan. He's really inspiring and his work is beautiful, i thought i would share some images and links with you :)

The Collection !

Hello ! Today i bring good news of successfully meeting my deadline, with time to spare! I've had a lot of fun during this project, even though there were some areas of struggle, and to be perfectly honest i'm excited for it to be over and to start my Final Major Project, which will be a similar but also very different project. Anyway! Here are some images of the final collection, hope you like them and any comments would be appreciated !

Etsy

Once again i've been snooping about on Etsy, mainly looking at textiles within clothes and i found this beautiful dress ! The whole shop is full of wonderful items, really inspirational when looking into textiles. Everything is made to size, and it only takes her an amazing 1-2 weeks to finish! Seems a bit too good to be true, but if the end product is anything like the photograph i would certainly be over the moon!

"The DREAM-ERS line was started by Yanique, who quit her tenured once dream career where she was a manager for CHANEL, to start this line. It is her way of aligning her passion, heart and soul to pursue and conquer her dreams. She commits to keeping her prices affordable by not taking the wholesale route, and to keep quality always high, by only making locally in the US. Working for CHANEL, the ultimate symbol of quality and style, was a formidable force in shaping Yanique's own style, and this can be seen in the DREAM-ERS line, where fit, quality, and style is evident."

Check out the shop here !

I found this on tumblr, so i'm not exactly sure what the source is or who the artist is ! If anyone has seen it before let me know. Anyway, I chose to share this because i really liked the concept behind it. Here's what it said on the post :)

The red thread of fate is an East Asian belief originating from Chinese legend and is also used in Japanese legend. According to this myth, the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of those that are destined to meet each other in a certain situation or help each other in a certain way. Often, in Japanese culture, it is thought to be tied around the little finger.
The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.

What I'm listening to.

Hello ! I just wanted to share this song as it is what i have been listening to throughout this project. XFM podcasts from Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington teamed with various playlists consisting mainly of Radiohead have really got me through this project! There has been nothing better than to put my headphones out and chill out while embroidering all these purses. It's been stressful but i've really enjoyed it! Stay tuned for images of the final collection next week.

The Pencil Company

Recently i got in touch with Derwent Pencils, enquiring about the possibility of any help they could give me towards the Final Major Project of my degree. They were wonderfully helpful and polite, and have actually sent me some materials to help the the visual communication and design development! I am over the moon with what they have sent me and really appreciate them even getting back to me in the first place :)  I have used derwent pencils in the past and love the quality of the products they make. It's the first sponsorship i have had and i am really really excited to start drawing and testing out my new materials! Once again, i would like to say thank you to the company for being so generous and I will put some images up as soon as i start experimenting with my drawings :D
